Fall is a great time to get out and visit colleges and universities. Many schools host programs this time of year designed to expose prospective students to life on their campuses. Check out these upcoming opportunities!

Padres e Hijos Fin De Semana, September 23-25

Twenty highly qualified high school seniors and their parents will visit the University of Georgia for an English/Spanish bilingual educational forum specially designed to welcome and encourage potential UGA applicants. Current Latino UGA students, parents, faculty, and alumni will be on hand to welcome the visitors and to share their experiences. English/Spanish interpreters will be available throughout the program. Participants will spend two days on the beautiful University of Georgia campus in Athens. The program commences Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. with a welcoming reception and an introduction to some of the bilingual ambassador-hosts who will be available throughout the event.

The Native American Fly-In Program is an opportunity for some of the most promising and talented students in the country, who have a particular interest in Native community and/or Native American Studies, to experience Dartmouth. Participants are selected on the basis of academic achievement and scholarship, personal character and accomplishment, potential for future excellence and leadership. Once on campus, students will visit classes, meet current undergraduates, interact with faculty and administrators, engage our Native community, attend workshops on the admissions and financial aid process, and increase their familiarity with Dartmouth's resources and the many opportunities for personal enrichment.

Because we understand that traveling may pose a significant financial burden for many families, the College covers the entire cost of the trip, including all transportation and meals.

Diversity Open House Program, September 24-26

The Amherst College Office of Admissions hosts two Diversity Open House (DIVOH) Weekends each fall in an effort to expose prospective applicants to Amherst's campus, student body, faculty, classes, and residence halls. Up to 100 students from under-represented cultural groups such as African American, Hispanic/Latino American, Native American, and Asian American backgrounds are selected to attend each weekend. The selection committee will also invite and prioritize students who demonstrate limited family financial resources, regardless of cultural background. Typically, the Admission Office will fund 100% of airline, bus, or train transportation costs for students attending DIVOH. Students should call 413-542-2328 to have an application emailed to them and submit the application no later than Friday, August 30, 2011.
