We hope you are having a wonderful holiday season and we wish you all the best in 2012!

And a VERY special thank you to all of you who come out to the shows and support all of the wonderful artists we have working with us at T1! We couldn’t do it without you and we are honored to do it for you.

We wanted to extend to you, our supporters and patrons, holiday greetings, but I would be remiss if I did not remind you that these are the last two weeks for tax deductible donations in year 2011. If you can help – even if it is a $5 donation – we need to raise approximately $2,000.00 by the end of April for the next production. As always, we really appreciate your support. Whatever form it takes.
Whether we stick to a show-by-show format or we announce a season, in January we should be announcing the next 3-4 shows. As I mentioned last month, the first show is rapidly falling into place. We held some preliminary auditions a couple weeks ago and they went swimmingly! I became even more fired up as I learned this production would include one of T1’s hallmarks - rockin’ acting!
Oleanna is David Mamet’s 1992 play about power in America and I have not been able to avoid it. It keeps coming back to me.  In many ways it is about the 99% and the struggles we face. But most importantly it is an amazing piece of dramatic theater and an absolute “toure de force” for two amazing actors. It fits perfectly with the Berkeley City Club and it helps with our primary focus right now, keeping costs down.

TheatreFIRST is receiving no government or corporate funding at this point in time. The private funding from the Ruths and the Morgan-Richards Fund, along with a few smaller individual donations, is financing our shows. As we move toward building a new theatre space, we will need your help filling the house.  So spread the word!

When we announce the shows next month tickets will be on sale for David Mamet's Oleanna. Don't forget, the Berkeley City Club is small, so get ‘em early!

Thanks again, and Happy Holidays from all of us at TheatreFIRST!
