In this issue:
The Neighbourhood Arts Network is
Toronto's first network dedicated to supporting art-making in
neighbourhoods throughout the city. The Neighbourhood Arts Network will provide
support and connect artists, arts organizations and community groups
creating art at a local level.
We welcome groups and individuals working in any arts
discipline, from any area of the city, whose interests or mandates embrace the idea
of community engagement and accessibility of the arts.
Clay
& Paper Theatre is a large-scale community-based theatre company that seeks
to bring theatre to as large and diverse an audience as possible. To further
this goal Clay & Paper launched an innovative new bicycle-based theatre
project: Cyclops: Cycling Oriented Puppet
Squad, in May 2009. Cyclops is a mobile performance squad that animates
and energizes environmental, cycling, art and community events across the GTA
and throughout Southern Ontario, bringing theatre and cycling enthusiasm
to the unsuspecting public. As we take our unique brand of theatre to the
streets, we develop new performance venues, draw attention to urban environmental
issues and promote active living. Thanks to funding from the Ontario
Trillium Foundation, Cyclops will be enlivening public spaces for the
next 2 years!
If you have a project you'd like to share with the Neighbourhood Arts Network, or have a job posting or call for submission, email frances@torontoarts.org with a detailed description and a picture!
