Kitchen Porch - Living locally is what we're about - Martha's Vineyard
Culinary Experiences - Cooking for vitality Greetings from the Kitchen Porch

Well Spring is FINALLY here on Martha’s Vineyard.
There is so much spring activity at our local farms:

  • Allen at Mermaid is waiting for Marigold to give birth. She is due and there should be enough milk for us to offer a cheese making workshop at the end of May. So email me if you wish to be on the list.
  • At Native Earth, Rebecca’s ducks; Cayugas and Khaki Campbell are nesting. She reports that she has lots of peppers in the greenhouse, but not enough sun!
  • And Allen Farm has brought in Thunder, a Berkshire boar, borrowed from Native Earth to breed with Mitchell’s Berkshire sows.
  • North Tabor Farm had their annual May Day party and all ran around the May pole!

I have been busy in my garden. The leeks, onions, peas, beets and spinach are in and I have a whole flat of broccoli rabe going in this week that Caitlin from Mermaid Farm got started for me.
I am also busy transforming my kitchen this month, making room for more baking and specialty food items for the Farmer's Markets.

This month I am offering two classes. I hope you can join me for one or both as I promise that will be packed with great information. This summer I will be offering Farm tours weekly and if you'd like to be on the mailer for those, send me an email and I will put you on our newsletter.
I hope you can join me!
