First Friday at The Crucible’s Cathedral Gallery |

|
Friday, April 2nd Gallery Hours: 6-9PM
Check out “Cast,” the newest exhibition at our uptown gallery. It’s an eclectic collection of art created through the casting process. Twenty-five Bay Area artists display their vision using one process, but a variety of materials -- from glass to bronze, ceramics to silver, iron, plastic, and even resin mixed with coffee grounds. Oakland’s uptown streets are alive with art and music on First Fridays, so make it an evening and support the arts by visiting other galleries and cafes in the area.

Help Save Oakland Arts |
The Oakland City Council is considering a 50% cut to arts funding at a special meeting Thursday, April 1st at 7PM. This could mean the end of many wonderful programs and facilities that make Oakland a center for Bay Area art, but you can help keep arts and cultural services alive in Oakland by making your voice heard. The Oakland Cultural Trust and Pro Arts are spearheading a response to the Council’s proposal.
