"It is with great pleasure that we will share Roger's name with all our 2,300 brothers and sisters as a person they can trust to do what is best for the State of California."

Child Abuse Prevention Center
Select Roger for Assembly

Roger is proud to announce the endorsement of the Child Abuse Prevention Center, known as the CAP Center. The CAP Center's is a state, national and international service, training, research and resources center dedicated to protecting children and building healthy families.

The Child Abuse Prevention Center has a 30 year history of preventing child abuse, neglect and abandonment through three core strategies: Safety, Education and Advocacy. Located in Sacramento, California, the Child Abuse Prevention Center is home to three unique agencies. Governed by a single board of directors, each organization takes a different but complementary approach to prevent child abuse. Agencies at the CAP Center include the Child Abuse Prevention Council of Sacramento, Lift the Children and Prevent Child Abuse California.

The quality of life for children has been a major focus of Roger Dickinson's career. "Prevention needs to be the central focus of our efforts in dealing with child abuse and neglect." , Roger remarked. "Once abuse and neglect has occurred, society has already failed in caring for its most fragile members and we are left with an uphill battle to ensure the child has the opportunity to live a happy, healthy life."

"While I am extremely proud of the work I have done on the County Board of Supervisors and with the First 5 Sacramento Commission, we need to do more. Caring for children properly is the most important thing we can do to give them a happy, healthy, constructive life – building stronger, safer communities and a more productive society. I look forward to doing more in the State Assembly working with the Child Abuse Prevention Center."

51% Majority of Stonewall Democratic Club Endorse Roger for State Assembly

Monday, March 8 - The meeting winding down, the ballots counted, and after record turnout to hear candidates make their case for the State Assembly, Chris Moore, President of the Stonewall Democratic Club of Sacramento, proudly announced that the Sacramento Chapter was now the largest among the National Stonewall Democrats with over 550 members. The mission of the Stonewall Democratic Club is to advance equal rights for all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. The support of Stonewall is both meaningful to those that share these progressive values and essential to the success of any candidate running for political office in Sacramento.

When the results of the balloting were finally announced, a large cheer filled in the room. Roger had won a 51% majority of the vote, more than all 3 other candidates combined.

Vote Breakdown:
Roger Dickinson 51%
Kevin McCarty 28%
Chris Garland 11%
Lauren Hammond 4%

"Stonewall has been a pretty good gauge of where the 9th Assembly District goes. Dave Jones won 58% of the vote when he ran for the Assembly and won the seat." said Dan Roth, founding President of the Stonewall Democratic Club of Sacramento. "With 4 solid Democratic candidates running, the 51% Roger won is a result of his long commitment and activism with the LGBT community. This vote shows Roger's standing not just among progressives and the LGBT but among likely voters."
