Nearly 100 guests converged on in San Francisco's Financial District to celebrate the grand opening of the U.S. Minority Business Development Agency's San Francisco Business Center, housed in East West Bank's 555 Montgomery Street location, in the heart of one of the nation's most fertile areas for minority business enterprise growth.

“I know in this geographic location, ideas, businesses, and a lot of wealth is created every single day, said the guest of honor, MBDA National Director Alejandra Castillo of the U.S. Department of Commerce. Our goal is to make sure that this wealth creation is inclusive of everyone.”

Betty Yee, Member of the State Board of Equalization, also headlined the event. “[Economic opportunity for all] has been the mission of ASIAN, Inc.; this mission never gets extinguished. Every time there are new opportunities, we want to be sure our communities are right there being part of the economic growth, so we know we're leaving no one behind.”

Representatives of U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, Congresswomen Nancy Pelosi and Jackie Speier, Governor Jerry Brown, Controller John Chiang, Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones, Assemblymembers Tom Ammiano and Phil Ting, Mayor Ed Lee and Board of Supervisors President David Chiu were also in attendance. Success! A letter from a housing client

From time to time, our clients are moved to share their testimonials with current and prospective ASIAN, Inc. supporters. Nancy Rueda, one of our San Jose-based Housing/Financial Literacy Coaches, worked hard to serve the client whose story appears in his own handwriting below:

Contracting 101 demonstrates how to do business with federal governmentView our "Federal Contracting 101" album on Facebook!

With over 150 registrants, it was full house at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Library in Downtown San Jose, for our MBDA program's “Federal Contracting 101” event. The event gave local and minority-owned businesses current, first-hand information on doing business with federal contractors from such companies as Boeing and Siemens.

Attendess also had a chance to pitch their services one-on-one with representatives of the U.S. Forest Service, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, General Services Administration, Department of Veteran Affairs, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. These introductions were seeds that could lead to lucrative, long-lasting partnerships.
