SDG 17 in 2017
Skills for good collaboration more needed than ever

Dear Friend,

The complex challenges of sustainable development cannot be met by one actor or sector alone. Multi-stakeholder partnerships have become a buzzword in the private and public sector, as well as among civil society. But how to walk the talk? The Collective Leadership Institute builds capacity in stakeholder collaboration and collective leadership. Some of our work is highlighted in this newsletter.

You will learn why donors need to invest in competences for partnering and how CLI's Collaboration Academies Initiative seeks to scale up collaboration skills worldwide. You can also find an article on our participation in the OECD workshop on well-being in Paris. Last but not least, CLI and Still Point Foundation are more than happy to announce a scholarship for civil society workshop participants supporting clean drinking water for healthy communities in Cambodia.

We look forward to continued collaboration with you on the 17 SDGs in 2017!

In an article for ecdpm, CLI's Petra Kuenkel points out, why donors need to acknowledge that building successful collaboration requires time and resources. They also need to ensure that collaboration takes place at all levels of intervention.
Donors need to invest in capacity building for partnering. A project in which all actors understand the essentials of making partnerships successful has a much higher likelihood of success.

We are very pleased to announce that, through a generous donation from the Still Point Foundation in the United States, up to ten civil society practitioners in Cambodia will receive substantial scholarships for participation in CLI’s Art of Stakeholder Collaboration 1 course in Siem Reap. The purpose of the scholarship is to build stakeholder dialogue and collaboration capacity among civil society course participants for improved access to drinking water for communities in Cambodia. Read more >>
