Evaluating Afterschool

statistics-new

The Student Outcomes Project is off to a great start this year! We recently completed Fall data collection on 973 students' social-emotional skills across 34 of our partner sites. We have several new sites participating this year and would like to extend an extra hearty THANK YOU to those sites for jumping in and learning quickly!

  Safety ShoutOut

The Program Quality Initiative team would like to congratulate several partner organizations that have all their sites meeting the Dallas Afterschool safety requirements.
Catholic Charities, Communities in School – Ketchup Saturdays, H.I.S. Kids Bridge Builders, Readers 2 Leaders, and St. Vincent de Paul are all passing safety.

Thank you all for your hard work and effort making this a successful year in safety!

 After the Bell Alliance

6000 gap
For many kids, learning does not stop after the school bell rings. In fact, afterschool and summer provide opportunities for many of the most engaging, hands-on, and interactive learning experiences a young person can have. According to ExpandED Schools, there is a 6,000 hour learning gap by the time a student reaches 6th grade. Nearly 70% of this gap is due to hours middle class children spend in afterschool and summer enrichment programs. According to the National Summer Learning Association, gaps in student achievement stay relatively steady during the school year, but gaps grow during the summer. Each year, this gap grows wider and wider, leaving many of our children behind.

The After the Bell Alliance is focused on doubling the number of available free and low-cost seats in local afterschool and summer programs. We need your help to accomplish this goal! If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Shareea Woods at swoods@dallasafterschool.org
