Upcoming SEL Intro Webinar: January 26th 10 a.m.

We have signed an agreement with Sanford Harmony to provide staff training, curriculum and teaching resources for all of our interested partners.  Sanford Harmony has an integrated approach to SEL learning that provides grade-appropriate lessons and activities based the themes of:  diversity and inclusion, empathy and critical thinking, communication, problem solving and peer relationships.  They have programs from kindergarten through 8th grade, with curriculum and lessons, short activities, and an approach to incorporate them into your programs in as little as 15 minutes per day.  While it was started in schools, afterschool programs such as LA's BEST and the YMCA have used it with very strong results.  They have seen research validated improvements in student achievement, school enjoyment, and empathy while seeing decreases in bullying and stereotyping.  The Sanford Harmony team will do a webinar with us so you can hear more details and ask questions - we have lots too!

Their team will come to Dallas two weeks later to do training with as many staff members as you want free of charge. Frequent feedback states you want more help in intentional social and emotional programming.  We're excited about the potential this has for our programs-more details to come.
Speak Out for Change.

The After the Bell Alliance is bringing together leaders in the Out of School Time Space to create a collective message that will help us all tell the story about why our work is so important. We would love to add your voice to this important conversation. Our next meeting will take place on Thursday, January 19th at 1pm. For location information and to RSVP, please contact Shareea Woods, Project Manager for the After the Bell Alliance. swoods@dallasafterschool.org
