child care providers meet together to discuss and share ways to provide a classroom or home environment that supports children’s optimal early development (ages 1-5 years). Teaching methods discussed include using social and emotion coaching, nurturing child-directed play interactions using narrated descriptive commenting, proactive teaching with predictable routines and consistent positive behavior management strategies. All of these approaches rely on building positive relationships with children as well as parents. Incredible Beginnings Program is run similarly to Teacher Classroom Management Program, in 6 Full-Day Workshops. Learn more about the Incredible Beginnings curriculum here.

Classroom Dina Child Group Leader Training: July 18-20
The Classroom Dinosaur Curriculum is used by teachers as a prevention program for an entire classroom of students. The curriculum is delivered 2-3 times a week by teachers in

the classroom in 20-30 minute circle time lessons, followed by small group practice activities and promotion of skills throughout the school day. The program includes letters for teachers to send home with suggested activities parents can do with their children to reinforce the classroom learning and promote parent involvement in classroom learning. The program includes lesson plans for 3 “levels” so that teachers can choose lessons based on children’s developmental age (Level 1: ages 3-5, Level 2: ages 5-6, Level 3: ages 7-8).
Learn more about the Classroom Dinosaur curriculum here.

Article of the Month:
Should IY Programs be used for Trauma Focused Therapy?

Article Library Image 2
A new report by Incredible Years Developer, Dr. Carolyn Webster-Stratton, explores the appropriateness of using IY program for families who have experienced Trauma.

Children with conduct problems have a high prevalence
of early childhood trauma family experiences. For this reason the IY parent and child programs which are “trauma informed” are appropriate for these families. In this report you will see Dr. Webster-Stratton’s answer to the question as to how the IY programs are based on trauma-informed principles.

and others on our website by visiting the IY Article Library.
