Can you imagine celebrating Thanksgiving or Hanukkah without your family by your side?

Can you imagine celebrating Thanksgiving or Hanukkah without your family by your side? For those with communication challenges, being isolated from Jewish communal life is often a reality. It is estimated that over 48 million Americans have some kind of hearing loss. JRDC is a Jewish organization that advocates nationally to change policies and funding streams to better include this population not only in the community, but in the national discourse.

JDRC is proud to work with national Jewish leaders and other community partners to ensure the inclusion of those with communication challenges in all our programs. This includes providing real live captioning or interpreting or other modes of communication access whenever the Jewish community gathers.

We have a very special donor who has offered to match all donations received through the end of the year. Your generosity helped us reach our goals last year; I hope you will join me in supporting JDRC again at the close of 2013.

Your support will fund the education of Jewish leaders, such as executive directors, board presidents, and clergy, to help them understand how to create partnerships with individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing so that collectively we can meet at communal decision making tables.  Only when we include all members of our community can we be truly undivided.

Wishing you a joyous Hanukkah and Thanksgiving!
