Issue 42.1 is here! Head over to bwr.ua.edu to check out the most recent issue, as well as BWR’s latest news, interviews, reviews, and other featured content. In 42.1, we are so excited to share with you the incredible work of these writers and artists:
Jessica Alexander • Aimee Baker
Nathan Clay Barbarick • MRB Chelko
Ansley Clark • Claudia Cortese
Patty Yumi Cottrell • Kat Finch
Shamala Gallagher • Alex McElroy
Soraya Palmer • Lynda Sexson
Caroline Belle Stewart • Laura Theobald
Candice Tripp • G.C. Waldrep • Colin Winnette
42.1 features work that considers the fantastical, the mythological, the surreal, and the lineages and histories of language and magic. You'll find poems and prose that use fairy stories, tall tales, and myths to interrogate the foundations of the human condition. We are proud that nearly all of this issue comes from general submissions, complemented by Colin Winnette's chapbook, Loudermilk, as well as the gorgeously macabre illustrations of Candice Tripp.
We are also pleased to announce that our recent online auction fundraiser was a great success. The funds we raised will help us tremendously in our efforts to showcase the kind of innovative, exciting, and challenging writing you've come to expect from us. All proceeds go towards producing Black Warrior Review, and to paying our contributing writers for their work. Thank you to everyone who participated and made our fundraiser possible!
Finally, we are so grateful for you, the community that supports and sustains BWR. You can continue your support of the journal and these writers and artists by donating, subscribing, or purchasing 42.1 today. We hope you enjoy 42.1 as much as we have enjoyed making it. Happy reading!
