Center Stage Strings is Expanding!

Santa TeresitaWe are entering our Fourth Season and are excited to announce some changes we are making to accommodate our growing camp!
Beginning this summer, we will be expanding our camp by utilizing the facilities of the Santa Teresita Youth Conference Center in Three Rivers for student housing and other camp functions.   It is a beautiful campus with dorms where all the students will live, a full cafeteria, practice building, swimming pool, basketball court, hiking trails and much more.

We are so grateful to our host families who have opened their homes these past three years to our students.  They have truly enabled our camp to get off the ground and running, providing a unique bond between our students and the community of Three Rivers.  We hope to continue this relationship in the future through host family events like dinners, recreational activities and special performances.

We are also thankful to the Three Rivers Community Presbyterian Church for allowing us to hold classes, lessons, concerts, even using the kitchen facilities in Harrison Hall to feed our hungry students and faculty!  We will continue to hold our main ticketed concerts at the Presbyterian Church even as we expand to our new home at Santa Teresita.  This year the camp will remain two weeks long with approximately the same number of students, but the new dorm facilities will allow for us to investigate expansion in both directions in future years.  We are very excited about this change and look forward to continuing our tradition of excellence and fun this coming summer.

Guest Artist
Nigel Armstrong

Nigel_ArmstrongPrize winning violinist Nigel Armstrong is joining us as our guest artist this summer!

Nigel recently came to international attention as a finalist in the 14th Tchaikovsky International Competition, where he was the highest-ranked American prizewinner (Fourth Prize) as well as winner of the award for the commissioned work by renowned composer John Corigliano.  Since then he has debuted in Chicago, on the Chicago Symphony’s MusicNOW series with a performance of Corigliano’s Stomp, and Los Angeles, performing Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 3 with the LA Chamber Orchestra.

Jeffrey Kahane has described Nigel Armstrong as “one of many violinists with technique to burn ... but to find that depth of musicianship in a young person is very unusual.
