The Children's Hunger Project March 2016 Newsletter
 March 2016
Subs and Beatles are coming!

A few years ago Jeff Bridges, observing the hunger problem with kids in America, said, “35 million people in the U.S. are hungry or don’t know where their next meal is coming from, and 13 million of them are children.  If another country were doing this to our children, we’d be at war.”  On a local level, many of our kids come to school hungry. Is this who we are?

We have wonderful support from businesses and organizations such as Jersey Mike's Subs and the Palm Bay Firefighters and Walmart.  As noted elsewhere in this newsletter, these two organizations will have special events during March to draw attention to malnutrition and hunger problems, not just somewhere in the world, but right here in our own back yard.  Click through on both of these Upcoming Events to see how you can help and have fun at the same time.

Also, please note that the “Best Beatles Tribute on Earth” is coming in April.  Our kids will benefit with a portion of proceeds from that concert, which is being put on by Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.  Call me for more information on this and other activities around the county that will assist hungry children.

Thank you for your continuing and loving support of our kids.

Here's our "story"

The Children's Hunger Project is a non-profit charity providing packages of weekend food for kids who teachers know are coming to school hungry on Monday mornings.

Schools provide a free breakfast and a healthy lunch.  But many children who are eligible for a free lunch at school go hungry on weekends.

$150 a year (or $12.50 monthly) provides a weekend food package for a child for an entire school year

"There can be no higher gift than to give the gift of food to our children facing hunger daily. Feeding our children through The Children's Hunger Project and Dr WJ Creel Elementary, invests in the future of our nation by enabling learning, supporting physical growth and development, and thereby unleashing the potential within every child."
