JULY 2016
Wow! $26,205 from Jersey Mike's Subs!

Dear friends,

My heart has been touched by the outpouring of concern and support from so many quarters when we announced recently that we would have to move from our Cocoa location.  As it turns out, the owner’s plans changed and we do not have to move after all.  What would we do without the generosity of the Nelson family who owns our building, the Brevard Hyundai dealers and Coastal Mitsubishi?

My heart is also touched by an important community event – the first of its kind in Brevard County – that will take place on Saturday morning, October 22.
Are you part of the

The inaugural Fight Child Hunger 5K – Run, Walk & Wheels event will be held on the campus of Eastern Florida State College and Wickham Park.  We’ve received a great deal of public relations and marketing support from Ropert and Partners Public Relations.  Thanks to the efforts of Running Zone, we have outlined courses for more than just a regular 5K; much more!  This event will enable our entire community to participate.  Older folks like me may not be able to run a 5K, but we can walk.  Some of our physically and mentally challenged youngsters and adults may not be able to run a 5K, but they can participate with our assistance in helping them walk or pushing their wheelchair.  That is how we came up with the name, Fight Child Hunger 5K – Run, Walk & Wheels.

Bob Gabordi, Executive Editor of FLORIDA TODAY, and his daughter, Jessica are honorary chairpersons of the event which will benefit hungry kids through support of our charity and our dear friends at the Sharing Center of Central BrevardProceeds will go exclusively for food for kids at both charities.
Are you part of the

The goal of the event is to raise a minimum of $150,000 which will feed 500 individual children through our regular weekly program along with another 750 families with children through the regular weekly program of Sharing Center of Central Brevard. Exceeding that goal will allow both organizations to provide even more meals to more kids in need.

Soon you will see mentions in FLORIDA TODAY and hear ads on local iHeartMedia radio stations KISS 95.1, Lite Rock 99.3 and WMMB 1240 & 1350AM.  Other print media and radio stations will follow in the near future.  The ads will mention the “BREVARD 100”, the one hundred civic groups, businesses, individuals, and religious congregations in Brevard County that demonstrate their willingness to help hungry children by being sponsors of this groundbreaking event.

Contact me for information on sponsorship of this remarkable community event.  Information can be found at
