5+1 Wrestling Superpowers and Child Foundation
Last week, USA Wrestling and the Madison Square Garden provided us with an opportunity to have a booth in the Forum in Los Angles during the 2015 Freestyle Wrestling World Cup matches. Thousands came to see six world wrestling superpowers compete for the world championship title. In the final matches between Iran and the United Sates, it was Iran who received the worthy title of World Cup Champion.
I personally congratulated Dr. Rasoul Khadem, Iran’s national head coach for their fine performance and sportsmanship. Mr. Khadem also thanked Child Foundation for its support of thousands of children in need to go to school.
This coming Sunday, Child Foundation will collaborate with ARM (Advancement of Research for Myopathies) in a telethon in Los Angeles...
Victim of an Acid Attack
Somayeh Mehri (31) and her daughter Rana Afghanipour (5) used to live in Bam, in the south of Iran. The two of them are victims of an acid attack by Somayeh's husband and Rana's father, Amir.
When Somayeh decided to divorce her husband because she had frequently been beaten and locked up, she didn't take his threats seriously. Then, one night in June 2011, while she slept next to her two children, her husband Amir attacked them with acid, and as a result, Somayeh's and Rana's faces, hands, and eyes were severely burned. Her other daughter escaped without injuries.
Unfortunately, Somayeh died a few days ago from a medical complication that was caused by the acid attack several years earlier, leaving her daughter alone.
Read more of this story and learn how you may be able to help Rana.
Valued Birthday Gifts
Recently, Child Foundation was able to deliver gifts to Amir Hossein for his birthday. The gifts were from his sponsor, Sharareh in California. We also delivered a thank you note written by Amir Hossein to his sponsor.
Mansour, another of Sharareh's sponsored children, and his family were able to purchase a carpet with the help of Sharareh. Masour thanked his sponsor in his heartwarming letter, and stated that, “with your help, I have planned to become a successful person making you and my family proud.”
Thanks to our wonderful volunteers, Child Foundation had a booth in several Sizdah Bedar events last week. These events occurred in Boston, MA, Chantilly, VA, and Portland, OR. We sincerely thank them for their time and efforts.

The mission of Child Foundation is to help children in need, who have been identified as high achievers to remain in school. We believe that education can move a child beyond the stigma of poverty and give that child the tools to reach his or her true and full potential. Since our inception in 1994, Child Foundation has provided basic necessities to children living in poverty or hardship, enhancing the quality of life for these children as well as their respective families. By providing access to education, Child Foundation hopes to eliminate children prematurely leaving school, and in certain cases, avoid early matrimony.
