Happy Valentine's Day
Child Foundation at Film Festivals in Chicago & Portland
This Sunday is Valentine’s day, a day when we typically show our love and appreciation to people who are close to our hearts. Some buy chocolate, take someone special to dinner, or send gifts and flowers.
We also use this day to think about those closer to our heart and always on our minds, children who have not had much luck in their life, but through education are willing to change that. They can’t do it alone and need assistance to stay focused on this difficult journey. That’s why Child Foundation, with your help, provides them with a monthly stipend so they don’t become victims of child labor. Our social workers constantly visit them and make sure they stay on course, if extra needs arise, we help and if they need an additional push, we try to motivate them.
This Valentine’s day, in honor of a loved one, please consider sponsoring a child in need and see how your gift of generosity translates to positive karma that affects your own life. All you have to do is visit our waiting list page here. This could be one of your most thoughtful gifts you have ever given someone.
And don’t forget that Nowruz is around the corner! As usual, Child Foundation is holding its annual Nowruz Bazaar where you can shop for your haft-seen and any new year necessities. Please see our Los Angeles and Switzerland flyers for additional information. If you want to present your goods and services, this will also be a wonderful opportunity for you since every year thousands visit our Bazaars. All of our income from Nowruz Bazars are sent to children in need.
We are also working on our annual Hamyaran magazine to distribute in our Nowruz events. This year, we are planning to mail it to another 15,000 of our interested individuals and thousands will be distributed in events and gatherings, there are a few opportunities for businesses who wish for their messages to be delivered to over 20 thousand affluent households. If you are interested in ad space, please contact us by sending us an e-mail to receive our media kit.
Don’t forget that Nowruz is about sharing and helping others. To send gifts to children in need, please donate to our Nowruz fund.

Hiking for Good
A group of Child Foundation volunteers joined the hiking group of Mehr-e-Danesh to visit the village of Kadooh. The purpose of this three day trip was to provide villagers in remote part of country with their health and medical needs. A number of volunteers, consisting of university medical students, veterinarian students, Red Crescent representatives, and other interested individuals participated in this project.
The village chosen is called Kadooh, which is in the Lorestan province, is 600 kilometer away from Tehran. It took the team one day of hiking from a country road between Khoram-Abad and Marg-sar to reach Kadooh.
In this trip, our medical students were able to give a physical checkup to the villagers, and our veterinarian students checked all of their livestock and provided them with advice and medicine. We also provided some books and educational items for the children.
Many thanks to Aziz Mohammadi, a local teacher who acted as our guide, Babak Pourghodrati for organizing this trip, and many of our supporters and participants.

CF Club in Calabasas HS
Our volunteer Roxana has established a Child Foundation club in her Calabasas High School.
On February 4th, during “Club Rush” day, she promoted CF club to other students by informing them of the club’s purpose.
With the continuous and generous support of the Child Foundation Organization, she hopes to raise awareness about children living in poverty and hardship, especially in Iran. She hopes that her activities will lead to many sponsorships for these children, providing basic necessities and enhancing the quality of their lives and their respective families by providing access to education.
Roxana and her family are a sponsor of a ten year old boy in Iran named Mohammad, in memory of her grandfather, Dr. Mohammad Entezam.
Gift for my Child
When our sponsor, Ardeshir who lives in North Carolina, found out that the family of his sponsored child, Mohammad who lives in Ardebil, did not have a television, he purchased one for Mohammad.
In his letter, Mohammad thanked Ardeshir and said “I promise I will make you happy with my good grades.”
Mohammad is in fifth grade and lives with his mother and sister.
Social Media Corner
You may already know about our Persian, English, and Afghanistan Facebook pages, but did you know that Child Foundation also has a page on Instagram? If you are also on Instagram, don't forget to follow us by visiting this page and clicking on the "Follow" button.
The mission of Child Foundation is to help children in need, who have been identified as high achievers to remain in school. We believe that education can move a child beyond the stigma of poverty and give that child the tools to reach his or her true and full potential. Since our inception in 1994, Child Foundation has provided basic necessities to children living in poverty or hardship, enhancing the quality of life for these children as well as their respective families. By providing access to education, Child Foundation hopes to eliminate children prematurely leaving school, and in certain cases, avoid early matrimony.
