Changing the face of the future, one child at a time.
Going to Washington
I just returned from National Capital Washington, DC after attending the United Nations Association annual meeting where Child Foundation is an active member of UNA-Council of Organizations. At the same time, I did some advocacy by visiting the House and Senate, meeting with Senators Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer, Congressman Alan Lowenthal, the staffs of Congressman Earl Blumenauer of Oregon, and many others. In my meeting with Rep. Lowenthal, I thanked him for co-sponsoring the "Girls Count Act of 2015" which authorizes the Secretary of State to support programs to improve civil registration, and promote programs that build the capacity of developing countries to prevent discrimination against girls.
During breakfast with Senator Feinstein, I briefed her about our activities in Afghanistan, Iran, and Indonesia. She said we must ensure that all students are learning and reaching their highest potential no matter where they are.
I also had meetings with U.S. officials following up on some additional OFAC licenses we are looking into to donate medical equipment to Iran, and they said they will do their best to support our humanitarian requests. I also mentioned the problem of sanctions in another meeting I had with officials of Human Rights Campaign and Amnesty International.
Advocacy has become an important part of Child Foundation’s outreach. Our transparency, expansion of our programs into other countries such as Nepal, and our medical assistance programs were all appreciated by officials I met.
We owe all of these to you, our generous donors, who trust us with your hard earned donations, and as everyone attests that we are on the right track, I hope you continue helping us by increasing your donations to our humanitarian programs that we present.

What Did Your Father Do For You?
Fathers are typically considered those who work hard to provide the basics for their family’s well-being. This father’s day, please consider donating to our food basket campaign to help families whose fathers have a hard time meeting this challenge. Many families we support do not have both parents which make their life much harder.
Whether your father is alive and you enjoy his presence and guidance, or you have lost him some time ago, today is a good day to honor him and donate in his name.
Happy Father’s Day!
Child Foundation in Indonesia
Mr. Navid Seyedali, Child Foundation board member, visited some of the children that Child Foundation is sponsoring in Indonesia. Most of the children supported by CF are orphans and live in two centers.
In his visit, Mr Seyedali had an opportunity to address the children along with Mrs. Winny, who herself was supported by Child Foundation to receive her bachelor's degree. Then she received a scholarship from the Australian government and studied in Australia. She received her PhD in Chemical Engineering two years ago and presently is on the teaching staff of the Institute of Technology Bandung, a prestigious university on par with MIT.
Afghanistan Helping Hand
Child Foundation's office in Afghanistan started a week long fundraising event by setting up a tent next to City Hall in Mazar-e-Sharif. The aim is to collect enough donations to help families in need during the month of Ramadan, when the price of food rises and families we support are more in financial need. So far, the response has been very good and this unique fundraising initiative received excellent media coverage.
Hi, I'm Madina!
Madina is 6 years old and at the top of her first grade class. She has faced much hardship in her young life. Madina and her family are living in very difficult conditions and can barely even afford their meals, not to mention clothing and school supplies.
Please consider helping this young student so that she may continue to attend school.

Happy Birthday, Niloofar!
Niloofar, from Zabol, had a wonderful birthday this year. She received clothes, markers, and many other gifts from her sponsor, Hanieh, who lives in Norway.
Niloofar lost her father a few years ago and her family had been through many difficult times before Child Foundation started to support her. She said that this was her first ever birthday gift.
Thank you, Hanieh, for bringing a smile to Niloofar's face.

Helping Children in Nepal
A group of students and parents of Louis E. Stocklmeir Elementary School in Sunnyvale, CA collected $4,519.10 in donations for children of Nepal. Dr. Raoofi sent a thank you letter and a Certificate of Appreciation was issued to the school.
Child Foundation is working with local nonprofits in Nepal and will be more active in the country starting this fall.
The mission of Child Foundation is to help children in need, who have been identified as high achievers to remain in school. We believe that education can move a child beyond the stigma of poverty and give that child the tools to reach his or her true and full potential. Since our inception in 1994, Child Foundation has provided basic necessities to children living in poverty or hardship, enhancing the quality of life for these children as well as their respective families. By providing access to education, Child Foundation hopes to eliminate children prematurely leaving school, and in certain cases, avoid early matrimony.
