Letter from the President
During the last few weeks I attended the United Nations’ UNIDO meeting in Vienna where I met with many international NGOs, like our own Child Foundation, to discuss and find new ways to promote poverty reduction, inclusive globalization, and environmental sustainability. While 5+1 countries discussed nuclear deal with Iran, in the city of Vienna I was providing information to a group of interested individuals who wanted to know about how they can support a child in need. I thank Dr. Chakoschian, the owner of Cafe Macchiato, for his hospitality and for providing us with the free space to inform Viennese of Child Foundation work and meet with some of our sponsors and donors in Austria. If you are traveling to Vienna, make sure to stop by Cafe Macchiato at Linzer Straße to pick up our fliers and a copy of 2015 Hamyaran magazine (while enjoying a very good cup of coffee).
After leaving Vienna, I flew to Portland for this year’s annual Board meeting. All of our Board members traveled from various parts of the country to attend this meeting. After presenting reports by officers, we worked on our 2015-16 strategic plan. Last year, we increased our income by 8.5% to more than 2.5 million dollars, and this year we are planning to increase our donations and grants by another 10%.
As our food basket campaign is coming to an end, we are preparing for the next one, "Back to School". We are very excited about this campaign, and our sister foundation in Afghanistan and Iran are making final preparations so that this year we can give backpacks full of school supplies to thousands of students in need. We will send you additional information very soon. Meanwhile, I hope you join us in donating to our general fund here.

Now I Can Kiss my Mother Goodnight
Parvin's lips were deformed due to a large tumor growing on her face, which left her struggling to eat and even speak. Child Foundation's Afghanistan office helped send her to Germany for the necessary surgery. It took eight months, and several operations, before she was able to return home. Now she cannot stop smiling, and nobody is happier that Parvin's mother. She is still in need of two more surgeries to prevent the tumor from returning.
If you wish to help, please donate to Parvin's medical fund here, and in the comment box type "Parvin's Fund."
Skype Meeting with my Child
This July, Child Foundation arranged a Skype meeting between one of our supporters, Mrs. Riahi from Sydney, Australia, and her sponsored daughter, Narges from Afghanistan. During their conversation, Mrs. Riahi and Narges spoke about Narges’ interests and her needs. She ensured Narges that she will support her and encouraged her to continue her education. Mrs. Riahi was so excited to hear that Narges is interested in drawing and painting that she promised to provide art supplies for Narges.
Mrs. Riahi also spoke to Narges’ mother about their family’s living conditions and of her children, she discussed with her mother the importance of the children’s education.
At the end of the meeting, Mrs. Riahi thanked CF for their humanitarian activities and helping children and their families. At the Child Foundation main office in Portland, we received an email from Mrs. Riahi. She was so excited about the Skype meeting and would now like to contact Narges regularly.

Hi, I'm Samira!
Samira is 13 years old and from the city of Maragheh, Iran. She lives in an overcrowded home that lacks many necessities. Her father tries his best to provide for his children and siblings, but he suffers from MS, which makes it very difficult. His various treatments have also been costly for the family. Samira is a good student, but she needs your help so she can stay in school.
Please consider helping this young student so that she may continue to attend school.
See more children waiting for sponsorship.
Child Foundation is continuing in the support of relief efforts in Nepal. This month, we've sent $5,000 in aid for the healthcare of victims of the devestating earthquake that struck the area earlier this year.
Child Foundation has been working with PASHA to help children whose lives have been affected by the earthquake. The mission of PASHA is to empower communities in need and enable them to provide affordable, high quality, healthcare to their members. Child Foundation and PASHA are developing unique plans to help children's health in Nepal.

1st International Festival of Pediatric Patients' Painting
The goal Health and Art (HEART) group is to combine the efforts of medical doctors and artists in order to help sick children in their time of need. Encouraging children to make art can show them that, though bad things happen, there is always hope and beauty in the world.
HEART will be holding an event for all children, under 18 years old, who have been admitted in a hospital to create a piece of artwork with the theme "Health." Two hundred paintings and drawings will be featured during the festival on October 8, 2015. For more information, see here.
