Help Nepal Now
I am sure that by now you have heard the tragic news of the earthquake that struck Nepal over the weekend. It is ironic that for the past few months, we had been in contact with a local NGO to find ways to empower Nepali girls through education. They had even sent us the files of several girls who need to be sponsored, but before we could start the process, this deadly earthquake occurred. Fortunately, the people who were supposed to work with us are all accounted for, but the situation in Nepal is as bad as it could be.
We have started a special "Help Nepal Now" fund and I am asking you to donate as generously as you can.
I have traveled to Tehran to attend Child Foundation’s international director’s conference where we have been busy planning and coordinating next year’s agenda. Meanwhile we have started many new projects, such as helping Rana, exploring opportunities to repair or build schools in remote areas, cooperating with NGOs on humanitarian projects such as helping blind students, children with immunodeficiency and more. Soon, I will share some very good news about them with you in our next newsletter.
Last but not lease, I like to ask you to consider sponsoring a child in need, or donating to other programs such as the Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund or Rana's Fund.

Looking for Schools to Support
Our new office in Shahre Kord in Char Mahal Bakhtiari providence has been very active. Its director recently visited ten rural villages, some of which are not accessible during the winter time. The main purpose of these visits were to see how we can help children in these places to have better access to education. His findings were mind-boggling.
Child Foundation is exploring ways that, through the help of our donors, we can create a better place of study for these innocent children.
Thanking our Volunteers
During the last two weeks, our volunteers helped us to introduce Child Foundation in many different programs in Southern California. We had booths in the UCLA Iranian Student Group, one in Aroos show in Beverly Hills, and also our Angels of Peace dance group performed in the ARM telethon which was broadcasted by several 24-hour Persian TV programs. Dr. Raoofi, Child Foundation’s President, talked about Child Foundation’s support of developing treatments for GNE Myopathy in the ARM telethon and also had a presentation for UCLA’s audience. We would genuinely like to thank the UCLA Iranian Student Group for all their efforts.
Thank You Slava Karaytcheva
Our wonderful intern, Slava Karaytcheva graduated with a masters in International Development Service from Concordia University. She spent a semester with us searching for and writing grants, management analysis of our systems, as well as finding contacts for a new program we are considering in Sri Lanka. Thanks a lot Slava, we miss you!
Hi, I'm Setareh!
Setareh is a thirteen-year-old girl from the city of Zabol. Her father passed away, and now her mother is struggling to provide for all of her children on her own. Setareh needs your help to be able to continue her education.
Please consider helping this young student so that she may continue to attend school.

Ali's New Vacuum
Because they'd never had one, Ali's wish was to get a vacuum for his sick mother. When Mrs. Bahar, Ali's sponsor from Canada, found out about his wish, she provided and additional donation to make his wish come true. Thank you Bahar, you made Ali's day!

The mission of Child Foundation is to help children in need, who have been identified as high achievers to remain in school. We believe that education can move a child beyond the stigma of poverty and give that child the tools to reach his or her true and full potential. Since our inception in 1994, Child Foundation has provided basic necessities to children living in poverty or hardship, enhancing the quality of life for these children as well as their respective families. By providing access to education, Child Foundation hopes to eliminate children prematurely leaving school, and in certain cases, avoid early matrimony.
