Letter from the President
Happy Holidays

We know that for many of you, our dear patrons and generous regular donors, this might not be the case.  However, for a few who have been waiting all year to make a small tax-deductible contribution to Child Foundation, you still have a chance to share in the wonderful help, and unique educational support that Child Foundation has provided needy children around the world in 2014. Time is running out fast.

Remember, this year those very contributions made it possible for CF to do some pretty amazing work and achieve more than a few remarkable distinctions, as well, in the process.

With your help, in 2014, we have already been able to complete and deliver a school building to house 260 students in the quake-stricken town of Varzeghan in Northeast Azerbaijan, while making it possible for another 7,000 to continue their schooling around the world, 240 of whom will be attending college in Iran and another 14 in Afghanistan this year!

Child Foundation has continued to make sure sick children receive lifesaving surgeries. Amir Ali received his bone marrow transplant, Rana can now see after her eye surgery, thalassemic Afghan children are supplied timely blood transfusions, children in Ilam have received adequate food and shelter following a deadly earthquake, and sufficient food and clothing arrived in the Badakhshan province right after the massive landslide that swallowed entire villages in northwest Afghanistan.

Also noteworthy, this year (and for the first time in history) the US Department of Treasury issued a two million dollar OFAC license to Child Foundation, allowing it to send money to Iran-- the only nonprofit organization of its kind to be awarded such a license. Additionally, Charity Navigator, the site that constantly monitors and evaluates the financial health of charitable organizations, awarded CF with their 4-star status, which is the highest level an organization can achieve in terms of transparency and excellent accounts keeping.

All of these accomplishments were the direct result of the contributions, both big and small, that our beloved donors have bestowed upon us in 2014.  That is why there is no doubt in our minds that as we get ready to close out another successful year, you will decide that Child Foundation and its mission is, once again, worthy of your utmost attention this December.

We thank you, and wish you & yours along with every child in our world the very best this holiday season.

Santa Delivered 1 Million to Iran
Child Foundation has been busy sending money to Iran using its latest OFAC license. And we are happy to inform you that, so far, in 2014 we have sent 1,000,000 dollars to our sister foundation, Refah Koodak in Tehran to be distributed among thousands of children that are supported through your monthly donations.

Prior to receiving our license, we sent over 620,000 dollars in 2014 in the form of food items for our children in Iran. Thanks to our OFAC license, we are permitted by the US government to send 2 million dollars annually to Iran to help children in need.

On behalf of Child Foundation's family, we thank you all and wish you a happy New Year!

Child Foundation Condemns Attack on Children
   support afghan-pakistan children
A terrorist group staged a horrific massacre on a school in Peshawar, Pakistan on Tuesday, killing 145 people, 132 of which were young students. These extremist groups will stop at nothing to prevent the education of girls, and to date, have burned down or otherwise terrorized more than 1000 schools which offer education to girls.

At Child Foundation, we condemn this attack, and we stand with the families in their grief through this time of sorrow. Child Foundation has established a Special Fund to educate girls in Afghanistan and Pakistan. We ask you all to help us launch this endeavor in earnest and to give it the kind of boost that will ensure its success for the long term. Educating girls is a large part of the answer to many of the problems communities face in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The mission of Child Foundation is to help children in need, who have been identified as high achievers to remain in school. We believe that education can move a child beyond the stigma of poverty and give that child the tools to reach his or her true and full potential. Since our inception in 1994, Child Foundation has provided basic necessities to children living in poverty or hardship, enhancing the quality of life for these children as well as their respective families. By providing access to education, Child Foundation hopes to eliminate children prematurely leaving school, and in certain cases, avoid early matrimony.
