Letter from the President
Letter from the President
Dear friends,

We have been very busy this last month. School started and we provided thousands of “Backpacks of Hope” to children in Afghanistan and Iran, and sent help to children in Nepal. We started collecting donations and clothes for Syrian children, attended United Nations’ high level meetings about “Education First,” “Violence Against Children,” “Every Woman- Every Child,” and met with officials of different countries and NGOs about our humanitarian activities.

As we are getting closer to the end of 2015, our focus will shift to other activities that need your attention, as well as donations utilizing end of the year tax benefits. I am also very excited about celebrating Universal Children's Day where we are cooperating with UNICEF and Barnes & Noble in celebrating a new chapter in helping children in need. Please see its announcement below.

Our “Backpack of Hope” drive was strong as always, if you want to contribute to it, you still have time. Please donate generously here.

Clothing Drive for Syrian Refugees

Syrian Clothes Drive
The Syrian civil war has displaced millions of defenseless people into rough mountains and parched dessert areas all over neighboring counties, as well as Europe, while in search of basic safety and simple shelter.

Today, tens of thousands of Syrian refugees have fled to European countries, and while still on the run, will soon face cold weather and winter conditions they have never faced before. With nothing but the clothes on their back, they are hardly prepared for the hardships ahead.

Since the refugee crisis began, our Child Foundation Offices in Germany, Sweden, and Switzerland have been working with local authorities to help these forgotten people. We have been providing food and clothing to them as best we can. Now, we are starting a clothing drive in earnest, to gather warm clothes for the coming wet and cold winter months, during which many will perish. Don’t let that happen. Save a life by giving away clothes. Don’t click away, give today.

In order to help Syrian refugee children with clothes, please donate here or visit this page for additional information.

Join us for Universal Children's Day
Universal Children Day
This year, Child Foundation is working with UNICEF, United Nations Association, as well as businesses such as Barnes & Noble, and many Farsi schools throughout the Unites States to promote the idea of doing everything in our power to protect and promote children’s rights to survive and thrive, to learn and grow, to make their voices heard and to reach their full potential.

We are asking everyone to join us in celebrating this worthy cause. Just drop us an e-mail at CFmain@childfoundation.org and we will be in contact to arrange the details.

Our Universal Children Day ceremony in Los Angeles area will be held in Calabasas’s library. You can be found more information here.

Going to School with my New Laptop

laptop-gifts
Last month, a couple of our children received their ultimate wish from their donors. Max from Houston donated a laptop to his sponsored daughter, Fatemeh in Bam. Fatemeh had lost both of her parent’s in the Bam earthquake, but fortunately, Max came into her life and it is now over ten years that he has been supporting her.

Laleh, another sponsor who lives in Las Vegas, also purchased a laptop for her sponsored son, Amir Hossein. Laleh has been with Child Foundation since 2009 and now she is supporting a total of five children in need.
Both Fatemeh and Amir-Hossein sent a letter of appreciation to their donors, thanking them for the gifts.

Mohammad
Hi, I'm Mohammad!
Mohammad is twelve years old and from the city of Shiraz, Iran. He and his mother live in their grandfather's overcrowded home. Mohammad is a very good student but he needs help to cover his lschooling and living expences.

Please consider helping this young student so that he may continue to attend school.

See more children waiting for sponsorship.

Drawing Exhibition

IFPPP

Child Foundation has been collaborating with the Health and Art (HEART) group in combining the efforts of medical doctors and artists in order to help sick children in their time of need. Encouraging children to make art can show them that, though bad things happen, there is always hope and beauty in the world.

HEART started a drawing contest among sick children to present their feelings through art. Some of the paintings are exhibited in Child Foundation’s Portland and LA office along with thirty other cities in the world from October 2nd to October 9th.

The mission of Child Foundation is to help children in need, who have been identified as high achievers to remain in school. We believe that education can move a child beyond the stigma of poverty and give that child the tools to reach his or her true and full potential. Since our inception in 1994, Child Foundation has provided basic necessities to children living in poverty or hardship, enhancing the quality of life for these children as well as their respective families. By providing access to education, Child Foundation hopes to eliminate children prematurely leaving school, and in certain cases, avoid early matrimony.
