  Remember to Document Holiday Care

The food program holidays are New Year’s Day (January 1), Memorial Day, Independence Day (July 4), Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day (December 25). If you do care on one of those days, document it. Don't lose money!

CACFPNet.com claimers: Under Site Resources, click on the
Holiday Care Online Formcomplete and submit it.

Paper claimers: Use your Claim Information Form. Put a check mark next to the holiday that you were open and send the form with your claim.

It's Almost Time to Reserve Your 2015 Calendar

WECA provides you with The National CACFP Sponsors Association Nutrition Calendar and Record Keeping System, because we want you to have a good record keeping tool. The calendar is free, but you must let us know that you want one.

Watch for our reminder in April, follow the directions carefully, and your 2015 calendar will be ordered. This year's order deadline is Friday, April 18.

Serve It All at Once

You must serve all food components, including milk, together at the same time for a meal or snack to be reimbursable.

How to Request a Claim Adjustment

After reviewing your claim summary, if you believe your claim wasn’t paid correctly and requires an adjustment, complete and submit a Claim Adjustment Request Form. The completed form (plus any required documentation) is due in the WECA office by the 15th of the month in which you receive the reimbursement in question. Adjustment requests are reviewed and processed after the 15th of each month.

To submit
an online adjustment request form or to print a mail-in form, go to wisconsinearlychildhood.org, Food Program, Food Program Forms, Food Claims, Claim Adjustment Form, or call ##7245 to request a form. Remember:
  • Adjustments can be made for processing errors by the WECA office.
  • Adjustments can’t be made for provider error, such as late, missing, or incorrect paperwork.
  • Adjustments can’t be made on late claims.
Keep Your Food Program Records
  • Your food program records must be kept onsite for the previous 12 months plus the current month.
  • Records for the previous two years can be stored onsite or offsite, but must be made available if requested.
  • Records can be stored electronically or on paper, but all records must be accessible for WECA, DPI, or USDA review at any time during your regular day care hours.
  • Best business practices advise that you periodically back up your food program records electronically.
Prize Drawing Winner

Congratulations to Sharon Pfluger, who won the March drawing for the Kizmos plastic storage set.  April's prize is the Gooseberry Patch Kids in the Kitchen cookbook. Read each Provider Connection, find the code [2014], click on it, complete the online entry, and submit.

Read to Win!

In the May, June and July Provider Connections, you'll be assigned material to read in your Provider Handbook (Nutrition and Wellness Tips for Young Children). In July, correctly answer six questions about the material and submit your entry online for a chance to win one of 12 [2014] prizes.

Prizes include four "Grow It, Try It, Like It" USDA resource kits that several of you previewed (and loved!) last year; and four Foam Flyer games and four Foam Ring-Toss games from Lakeshore Learning.

Remember, you must use the online entry form and answer each question correctly to participate. Submission deadline for your online entry is July 31, 2014.
