Remember: Only 100% juice is creditable on the food program. Enter either “100% juice” or the name of the first fruit or vegetable in the list of juice ingredients. Entering just “juice” is not enough information.

Do We Have Your 2014 Training?

USDA requires providers to complete a training requirement each year. If you haven't received a 2014 certificate of completion for your training, the deadline is 9/30/14. If you misplaced your packet, go to wisconsinearlychildhood.org, Food Program, Food Program Forms, Required Documents, to print another, or contact your area coordinator right away.

Send it to the WECA office at 744 Williamson St., Ste. 200, Madison, WI, 53703. Or fax it to 608-442-5306 or email to cpoole@wisconsinearlychildhood.org.

Apply for Income Eligibility Any Time

Apply to receive higher tier one rates, or to be paid for eligible children living in your home, at any time. You can also apply to claim eligible foster children living in your home at any time. Tier two providers may distribute income eligibility applications to parents of all children in care, and receive higher rates for the children of qualifying households. Forms are available at wisconsinearlychildhood.org, Food Program, Food Program Forms, Financial. Or call ##7237 to request a form.

Child Re-enrollment Packets due 10/5/14

Each year WECA is required to collect updated information for currently-enrolled children. Re-enrollment packets were mailed 8/29/14.

Follow your packet directions exactly so that no children are removed. Otherwise, you must re-enroll dropped children with new enrollment forms and all other supporting documentation. This can affect your reimbursement.
  • Return your completed packet as soon as possible; it won’t be accepted after 10/5.
  • Parents must update and sign off on child information during SEPTEMBER ONLY.

WECA Food Program at Get Up and Go! Day

PBS Kids Get Up and Go! Day was held Friday, August 1, 10:00 am. until noon, and the WECA Food Program was there! In Madison, Cindy Poole, Pam Polenz, and Linda Croxford handed out WECA Food Program information and kid-related goodies. Mary Mahl handled Eau Claire, and Fran Reed and Suzette Warmus appeared at the Appleton event. Thank you all for supporting the WECA Food Program!

Thousands
of kids, their parents and caregivers, showed up to see PBS favorites like Miss Rosa, Peg + Cat, and Mr. Steve (Madison); Curious George (La Crosse); Clifford the Big Red Dog (Eau Claire); and The Cat in the Hat (Appleton).

Special appreciation goes to Madison HyVee Store #1 for donating cold bottled water and to Linwood Croxford for his assistance. Thanks also to [2014] Madison's Community Pharmacy for donating sunscreen and electrolyte packs.

Visit Wisconsin Public Television's YouTube channel to watch videos from Get Up and Go! featuring a special introduction by First Lady Michelle Obama.
