Save the Date: Friday, November 14, 2014

Join us for the Professional Development Luncheon at the WECA Conference. Guest speaker at this year’s event, Marcy Whitebook, co-authored the groundbreaking National Child Care Staffing Study, which documented the link between quality care for children and teacher compensation.  You won't want to miss what she has to say!

And if you want to nominate a colleague for an "Above & Beyond" award, it’s not too late—nominations will be accepted until July 15, 2014.

Announcing a Change in T.E.A.C.H. Scholarship Eligibility

Regarding your place of employment, eligibility guidelines now read as follows:  To be eligible you must “work at least 25 hours per week in a full-time program that is a licensed and/or a YoungStar participating group child care program, OR in a licensed or certified family child care program.”

T
his requirement applies to part-time programs and those serving school-age children as well. There may be exceptions to the number of hours worked. Call the WECA office to find out more.

Notes from Your Counselor

> Inform your counselor of changes in employment and/or address. Keep us informed! Sometimes a change that is not reported to your counselor – for example, a switch from family to center-based care – can result in withdrawal from scholarship if certain eligibilities are no longer met, or a scholarship model may need to change that requires new paperwork. On-going communication with you depends on up-to-date address information.

> Return Information Update Form.   Sent with your first bonus, this form is important for documenting T.E.A.C.H. success, keeping our database up-to-date, and helping us stay connected to you.  Please return it promptly.

> Check your forms B & C to make sure they are current.  If you’re copying forms that you’ve used in the past, please check our website to see if you are using the most current versions
