Welcome New WECA Members
Wisconsin Early Childhood Association welcomes over 100 new members – scholarship recipients who have completed their first contract on T.E.A.C.H. and have been rewarded with a one-year FREE membership or membership renewal. We’re glad to have you join us! It’s the perfect time to take advantage of membership benefits, including a reduction of fees at our upcoming statewide conference.
Like improving your education, membership in our association is a way to demonstrate your professionalism, and that shouldn’t come to an end after this year. Retaining your membership is our goal. If you are one of our new members, we hope you’ll stick with us next year when you are asked to pay membership dues. And if in the past you received this benefit but your membership has lapsed, please renew. Our profession grows stronger when we face our challenges together, celebrate together, learn together, and advocate together.
Welcome New T.E.A.C.H. Staff
Laura Simkin. I’m very happy to be the newest T.E.A.C.H. scholarship counselor at WECA. The road that brought me to WECA is full of experiences in a variety of child care settings over the last 20 years, along with bachelor’s and master’s degrees related to early childhood education, advocacy and policy. I live in downtown Madison on the Yahara River and bike path, and one of my joys each morning is walking out my door to see kayakers, unicyclists, runners, walkers, and bikers all starting their day in their unique way.
Marly Lee. I am the new Financial and Professional Development Assistant. Before WECA, I worked in childcare in public school settings and childcare centers. I was an assistant teacher in a 4K classroom; and value the importance of quality childcare. In my free time I enjoy spending it with my family, fiancé, and dog.
