Delhi State Action Plan on Climate Change – How it all began...Recent studies show that Delhi falls in the areas of greatest climate variability, maximum vulnerability and lowest adaptive capacity. In January 2009, Delhi became the first federal state to have adopted a climate mitigation and adaptation plan complying with the National Action Plan on Climate Change, released in 2008, which outlines the State’s strategy to meet and address the challenges of climate change. |

SUNYA cities to prepare zero waste management action plansAll the seven cities under the ‘SUNYA – Towards zero waste in South Asia’ project are now in the process of developing their respective Zero Waste Management Action Plans. These plans aim at ensuring the sustainability of the project beyond its duration. It will also help in being a stepping stone and paving the path towards formalizing a scientific and sustainable solid waste management system which will further help cities in attaining the zero waste status. Lima Climate Change Conference - December 2014The 20th session of the Conference of the Parties and the 10th session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol will be held from 1 to 12 December. COP 20/CMP 10 which will be hosted in Lima by the Government of Peru, will also witness the launch of the Global Protocol for Community-Scale Greenhouse Gas Emission Inventories (GPC) on December 8th. This most widely-endorsed GHG accounting and reporting standard for cities has been created in partnership by the World Resources Institute (WRI), ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability (ICLEI) and C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group (C40). |
