Last month Mary Riley, of Lincoln, Nebraska became our first Empower Pack Partner!

Mary heard about Circle of Hands Uganda and wanted to get involved. She ordered an Empower Pack and set up a beautiful display at her church’s annual craft fair.

The event was an enormous success! With the help of a few friends, Mary was able to sell $400 worth of products. This success enabled Mary to make a donation to her church. Mary enjoyed the event so much she’s interested in doing the same thing again next year!

Thanks Mary for empowering women in Uganda!

Featured Ladies Story: Safina Nakawangi

Safina's joyful spirit and infectious smile disguise her painful past. In 2004 her husband died of AIDS and she was left to care for their 5 children. Being uneducated, Safina could only gain employment at the stone quarries - a dangerous and unhealthy work.

Safina AloneTwo years ago Safina’s life changed. She joined the Namugongo Good Samaritan Project (NGSP), our partner initiative. Safina's feelings of isolation are gone. She now rejoices confidently in her new role as a business woman.

Safina's goals for her life are like ours: to be surrounded by family and to ensure that her children have a good life. Her outlook has changed dramatically. 100% dedicated to bead-making, she wants you to know from her heart:

"I love you very much. I reach out to say thank you for buying."
