PNAIS is accepting proposals to fill thirty, one-hour breakout sessions. Take a risk! Presenting a breakout session can be a tremendous growth experience. Seize the opportunity to highlight an area of expertise that exemplifies the conference theme: Risk + Failure = Growth: Developing The Resilient Learner and Educator.
Proposals that address new and timely issues in education, curricula development, and best practices in teaching will be considered in the traditional formats of:
-
Interactive presentations
-
Facilitated discussions
-
Workshops
This year the planning committee would like to encourage two new types of presentations.
-
Facilitated TedTalks: Each year, the world's leading thinkers and doers gather to share big ideas. The talks are posted online (www.ted.com) and are free to view and use. In this model, people would lead a breakout based on a TedTalk. The role of the presenter would be to facilitate conversations based on the content. This is an excellent way for new presenters to take a risk and lead a session for colleagues!
-
Case Studies: You are also invited to present a case study that demonstrates a risk and maybe even a failure, and how you, your school, or your students used this experience as a growth opportunity.
Deadline - May 18, 2012: In order to be considered, email complete proposal to Emily McGrath at emcgrath@pnais.org by May 18, 2012.
Proposal Review Process and Notification of Acceptance: The Conference Planning Committee and the Director of Professio
nal Development will review all proposals received by May 18, 2012. You will be notified whether your proposal has been accepted by June 15, 2012. A full list of breakout sessions will be posted in the conference website, distributed to registrants prior to the conference and will be included in the conference packet.
