Spotlight Award
   Oren Sellstrom and
   BABRT CEO, Bernard Ashcraft
The Bay Area Business Roundtable (BABRT) honored Lawyers' Committee Legal Director, Oren Sellstrom, with the "Spotlight Award" today in recognition of his leadership and support for equity and access in contracting opportunities for local, small and minority-owned businesses. Oren's legal advocacy on behalf of our business clients and his fearless approach to taking on powerful government agencies continues to be a critical component of our economic justice agenda to support the economic backbone of our communities.

The BABRT has been committed to developing strategies and pathways leading to sustainable economic improvement for unprivileged communities for over 20 years. Most recently Oren led the BABRT's effort to create a "scorecard" based on Public Records Act Requests to five major agencies in the East Bay (City of Oakland, Port of Oakland, Alameda County, BART, East Bay MUD), to show how each agency is doing to provide opportunities for minority/women-owned businesses, and hold them each accountable.

Please join us in congratulating Oren on this
well-deserved recognition!!!
