Stein, Utrata Win Super Bowl 5K

P2040557It was a sea of blue and red at Wash Park in Denver for the Super Bowl 5K. Racers bundled up and donned their team colors while face-painters at the finish line helped by adding team spirits. Those toeing the line for a quick time were treated to a relatively clear course, with the exception of a few icy and snowy patches. It may have been cold, but the snowy scenery, bright Colorado sunshine and nonexistent wind led to an exceptional race. Read more...

Super Half Marathon A Super Success On Super Sunday

SuperHalf872More than 800 runners and walkers converged in downtown Colorado Springs for the inaugural Super Half Marathon and 5K Family Fun Run/Walk.  ”Super Bowl Sunday is kind of like a holiday, and people love running on holidays,” said Pikes Peak Road Runners board member Stephanie Meredith.  Both races were held on the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail, leading to some competitive times and even better views. Read more...

Race Review: Chilly Cheeks Duathlon III

dry_bike 2Racers participating in the final installment of the Chilly Cheeks Winter Duathlon Series were treated to beautiful weather and race conditions at Cherry Creek State Park. Temperatures hovered in the high 40′s and low 50′s throughout the morning hours. Duathlon participants started out in waves with a 10.8 mile bike ride followed by a 4 mile run. There were two different race categories: Fat Tire and Open. Those entering the Fat Tire division had to ride a mountain bike or Hybrid with a minimum tire width of 1.90. Those entering the Open division were able to ride any type of bike the weather and course conditions dictated. There was also a 4 mile run-only option that began after the duathlon waves started. Read more...

Randall Takes Top Time At Valentine's Day Prediction Run

mmstridersThe Valentine’s Day Massacre Prediction Run in Grand Junction, CO is unlike any other race in that the winners are not those that cross the finish line first, but rather those that predict their finishing times the closest. The 3 mile race put on by the Mesa Monument Striders has been taking place since the 1980′s.  The unconventional race requires beverage donations as a race entry “fee” and are then re-distributed to the winners – those that predict their closes finishing times. Read more...
