You Planned Your Training...Start Planning Your Race Weekend

You registered, you figured out some sort of training regiment, and you are working at it...keep it up! But ever so soon, the event itself will approach, and since your training is truckin' along, start prepping for the weekend itself. The next several Athlete Newsletters will give you more insight into the weekend and the happenings around the venue so you may plan accordingly, but first, you've got to get to the site.

Driving Directions

So the approximate address of the South Shore of Lake San Antonio is 2610 San Antonio Road, Bradley, CA. And because technology is a blessing and a curse, we suggest that you google the address prior to driving to the Lake and PRINT the directions. You can also conveniently find and print directions off of the Tri-California website here. We suggest printing directions since cellular service is slightly unreliable (it has it's off days and on days just like you and I). Also, heads up, after you look up your directions, also plan a stop along the way that will be your last fuel stop. The closest fuel to the Lake is at Oak Hill Market, a whopping 28 miles away.

Stay and Play...Play in the Area, and the Stay for the Race

Paso Robles, CASo, when you start googling "where the heck Lake San Antonio is" you'll notice, Lake San Antonio, part of Monterey County Parks, is at the edge of Monterey County and San Luis Obispo County, essentially tucked on the outskirts of Paso Robles. Paso Robles was named 2013's Wine Region of the Year of the Year. There's plenty of wineries that can consume your day as well as a great little Downtown full of shopping and good, good eating! Paso Robles is also celebrating their 125th Anniversary here in 2014 and has lots of smaller events centered on the celebration. Consider driving through to the Lake a day early so you can really enjoy the area. Check out Travel Paso through YouTube video and their blog!

If you already know that you can't spend an extra day in the area, you are still able to enjoy the awarded wine region on-site at Wildflower. 15 degrees C Wine Shop & Bar is set to bring wine tasting to the event. You can sip a glass and hang on the lawn after your race. Buy a glass, buy a bottle, or buy a flight and taste a little from the area right on site!

Cheer On And Support CAF

BreezyYou know the uplifting and invigorating feeling you get from crossing a finish line. At the Challenged Athletes Foundation® (CAF), we also know the power sports can have and believe everyone has the right to be physically active.  For the past 20 years, CAF has been a world leader in helping individuals with physical challenges get involved – and stay involved – in sports. Whether it’s a $2,500 grant for a handcycle, helping underwrite a carbon fiber running foot not covered by insurance, or arranging enthusiastic encouragement from a mentor who has triumphed over a similar challenge, CAF’s mission is clear: give those with the desire to live active, athletic lifestyles every opportunity to compete in the sports they love.
