News from the Triathlon at Pacific Grove

Run Run Athlete!

Run the Rec TrailSo athletes, we've talked about the Swim and we've talked about the Bike in the previous newsletters (available here under Race News), so let's now round it out and talk about the run. Like the other legs of the course, we will talk laps here too. All of the Olympic Distance triathletes will run 3 laps while all you Sprint Distance triathletes will run 2 laps! Both distances will head from the Lovers Point grassy area where Transitions is set and out down the Recreation Trail. (Here's an extra word...if you are arriving a day or two early, definitely go on a run on the Recreation Trail, it's beautiful and you can't really get lost if you stay on the trail which is always my greatest fear when on vacation in a different place.) The turnaround point for the Olympic Distance and Sprint Distance are different, so please study up on your respective course maps. Both courses are flat and fast and finish on Ocean View Blvd. adjacent to the Lovers Point Parking Lot. All your friends and family can line the Finish Chute on Ocean View Blvd. to watch you cross the line!

5&10K Runners!

Your course is a bit different. Not better or worse, just different. You will be running along the scenic Ocean View Blvd. (Now triathletes, don't be jealous, you will see all the views when you are out there riding your bike.) Runners your course is an out-and-back. You will both start and end at the Lovers Point Park. 10K athletes will turnaround at Asilomar State Beach, and there will be one aid station available at the turnaround. 5K athletes will turnaround near the 12th Green of the Pacific Grove Municipal Golf Link Course. There will not be an aid station along the 5K course, but don't fret, there will be ample aid at the Finish for both distances. Check out this awesome depiction of your run course!
