Dear Member,

I have to tell you, there’s really something special about attending the national WCA conference. With so many inspiring women artists in one place, you know it’s going to be good! Since this year’s conference was in Los Angeles, quite a few of us were able to attend. Our chapter rep and stipend award-winner, Angela Han, did a seriously fantastic job of sharing our yearly message at the Chapter’s Council (so much so that the next speaker laughed and hesitated to follow Angela’s terrific positive energy!) Enthusiasm like that spreads, and reminds me that we’ve got unique and valuable things going here at NCWCA.

Onward,
Sawyer Rose
President

FIELD TRIP TO LOUISE NEVELSON: THE FOURTH DIMENSION
IMG_3594Thank you Helen Poole for organizing a tour of "Louise Nevelson: The Fourth Dimension" at the San Jose Museum of Art. Kathryn Wade, the curator of the show, was on hand to give us a personal tour. The exhibition included the 1957 piece, "Sky Cathedral," which is one of the most significant objects in the museum's collection (see March banner above) . Added to that were several related works by Nevelson. There was even a drawing by Alexander Calder, which was gifted to Nevelson and then immediately re-gifted to one of her patrons. It was an informative, enjoyable afternoon and we hope to offer more art exhibition tours in the future.

LAST CHANCE! TO CONTINUE RECEIVING "NEWS & NOTES" YOU MUST RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP BY APRIL 1. RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP HERE AND INVITE YOUR FRIENDS TOO!
