September, 2016  Issue 68
Dear Member,

We had our annual Land Art Day in Pescadero on August 20 at Irma Velasquez' Pescadero ranch. Nine artists fanned out over the grassy property to make art from the land, sketch, and otherwise enjoy a perfect late summer day in the country. In the afternoon we visited each other's works, listened to what inspired each artist, and documented the day with photos and videos.
NCWCA is hosting an Art Journey Retreat at the O'Hanlon Center on October 1. Sign up to make art and recharge your batteries at a one-day retreat in Mill Valley. With San Francisco Open Studios coming up in October and havomg two exhibitions to manage, I decided this retreat was the perfect way to take a day off and recharge my own batteries. Don't forget to submit work to F*ck U! In the Most Loving Way. The deadline is October 7! Here's the link to the prospectus and online application:

rokudenashikoLeisel Whitlock Tanya Augsburg and Priscilla Otani are negotiating agreements with several featured artists to participate in F*ck U! In the Most Loving Way.They include original Womahouse artists and  local, national and international artists whose works represent the exhibition's theme. We can't announce their names just yet but we are thrilled that nearly all those contacted want to participate. Coming out of these discussions and our desire for ways to make this show inclusive, we have made some changes and added events. We have moved the Video/Performance Event to Saturday, January 14, with video in the afternoon and performance at night so they don't overlap. A Womanhouse Reunion evening is planned for Friday, January 13. We will view two documentaries of Womanhouse and several original Womanhouse artists will be on hand for questions and answers. We are also organizing a photoshoot of as many Bay Area women artists as possible - a mass photograph to be included in the exhibition. Once a date and time is set, we hope you can help us contact women artists to participate. Finally, Sawyer Rose has begun compiling key message for our publicist, Sally Douglas Arce to fashion into press messages.
