Dear Monticello UMC,
Good afternoon everyone! I wanted to share with you two important announcements.
BUSINESS MEETING
We have so much to celebrate here at Monticello!!! And, each year, we take an opportunity to do so as well as discuss some church business. So, our administrative board would like to invite you to attend an all-church business meeting on Thursday, December 15, at 6:30pm. This meeting will run approximately 90 minutes and offer the following agenda items:
- 6:30pm: Opening devotional--welcome, song, scripture, prayer
- 6:45pm: Celebration of ministries in 2011--each of our ministry teams will share 2 minutes of highlights from this year
- 7:00pm: Presentation of the new ministry teams at Monticello and an introduction of their coordinators
- 7:10pm: Election of lay leadership to the Staff Parish Committee, Lay Leadership Committee, Trustees Committee, and
- 7:15pm: Overview of the 2012 church budget
- 7:25pm: Brainstorming strategic goals for 2012 (in small groups)
- 7:45pm: Closing worship moment--song, prayer
- 8:00pm: Dismissal
This meeting is open to everyone--members and visitors alike. By United Methodist Policy, only members may serve on elected committees and vote during the lay leadership election though. But, members and visitors alike are welcome to join us for the whole evening and be a part of the planning! Reservations are NOT needed for this event. Just show up at 6:30pm in the sanctuary.
Also, if you would like to nominate yourself or another person to a committee for 2012, please email me at robert.walters@getGOD.info. Our lay leadership team will contact them to be sure they would accept, and then add them to the ballot for that night. Nominations need to be received no later than December 12.
As your pastor, I am so excited to head into our first business meeting together. I am so proud of this congregation and all you do! This will be a wonderful evening to celebrate your ministry and also explore the future.
ALL CHURCH DINNER & CHOIR CANTATA
On Sunday, Sunday, December 18, at 5:30pm, we'll have our annual all-church dinner. It will be followed by choir's presentation of "Lead Me Back to Bethlehem" at 6:30pm. Suggested donations for dinner are as follows:
- $6 for age 10 & up
- $4 for ages 4-9
- $3 for ages 0-3
I am so proud of our choir and know this will be a wonderful night of food, fellowship, music, and the story of Christmas. I hope you will join my family and I as we enjoy this wonderful evening.
The deadline for our team to order the dinner is December 12. So, please order your tickets today. You can do so in two ways. First, email Cindy Abels at rcabels@gmail.com or call the office and leave a message with Cindy Hedges. OR, you can order tickets in person this Sunday. Cindy Abels will be at the "Connection Point" in fellowship hall before and after both services. So, get your tickets then!
