Monticello United Methodist ChurchEmergency Prayer Request
Dear Monticello UMC,
Please join our pastor, caring ministries team, and staff in expressing our sympathy to two families in our congregation who have had family members pass during Thanksgiving break.
The family of Gaylen Sprecker - Gaylen passed away on Friday, November 25, 2011.
- Our sympathies go out to Gaylen's entire family but especially to Gaylen's daughter-in-law, Stacey Sprecker, a member of our congregation. Also, please be in prayer for Stacey's mother, Debby Likes and the entire family during this time of grief.
- On a special note, it was a blessing for me as your pastor to visit with Gaylen in the hospital on multiple occasions. He was a kind man who loved his family very much.
- At this time, cards and expressions of sympathy to Debby and Stacey would be appreciated. However, the family would like to offer Gaylen's spouse and immediate family some private, uninterrupted time without calls or visits as they make service arrangements. The service will be held at a different church in the KC area.
The family of Florence Fitzgerald - Florence passed away on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 24, 2011.
- Our sympathies go out to Florence's entire family but especially to Florence's son, Kyle, and his wife, Brenda, who are regular attendees at Monticello. Also, be in prayer for their entire extended family here and out of state.
- Our lay speaker, Rodney Evans, was able to visit with Florence multiple times, including early Thanksgiving morning. I am thankful to him for his service to so many in our congregation.
- I was also able to visit with Florence almost daily for two weeks. Plus, I was blessed to be with Florence, pray for her, and anoint her with oil just moments before her passing. It was a honor to serve her and this wonderful family.
- At this time, cards and expressions of sympathy to Kyle and Brenda would be appreciated. The service will be held in Iowa.
Please help us honor these families by keeping this request confidential among our congregation. Do not forward to those beyond this email list.
May God bless you for taking a moment to pray today for these special needs. And, may we all give thanks and celebrate the lives of Florence and Gaylen this weekend.
Blessings, Pastor Rob

Prayer Request PolicyIt is our policy at Monticello United Methodist Church to include non-emergency prayer requests in the pastor's weekly E-Note. However, emergency prayer requests (hospitalization, accident, death, etc.) will be disseminated as they come into the office. To protect the privacy and confidentiality of our parishioners, we will only share prayer requests with the prayer chain if they are provided with the permission of the person involved and come directly from a family member. While our pastor and congregational care ministers will personally pray for anonymous requests, third party requests, prayer requests for friends, neighbors, etc., we will be unable to publish them in order to preserve confidentiality in pastoral care.
