"E-Note" from Pastor Rob

box_top.gif
Dear Monticello Church family,

We are so glad you are a part of our church family!  Welcome to this week's E-Note.

In an effort to keep our congregation completely informed about all the exciting ministry here, we've decided to replace the monthly newsletter with this weekly E-Note.  So, rather than getting daily emails from the church and a monthly newsletter in the mail, you'll get one weekly newsletter via email instead.  For our congregants that do not use email, we are printing a limited number of copies of the E-Note and putting them in the sanctuary with the bulletins each week.  There are three big benefits...
  1. We get you more information when you need it!
  2. We avoid filling your email box all week!
  3. We avoid mailing costs of the printed newsletter.
The highlights this week are....
  • This Weekend in Worship
  • Guest youth choir to bless us in worship!!
  • Have you visited our new website yet?
  • What happened to prayer  requests?
  • Plus, get the updates from Missions, Youth, UMM, and UMW on the right side!
Know we are here to serve you in any way possible.  Blessings to you on the weekend ahead!

Grace and Peace,
Pastor Rob

This Weekend in Worship

Join us as we continue the series, "Honoring Our Heritage - Exploring Our Future" where we look at where this congregation started in the 1800's, the journey to this place today, and begin to look at our future in the years ahead.  Together, we'll remember how God has walked with this congregation over nearly 150 years and consider the plans God has for us in the future.

Remember, worship begins at 9:00am and 10:45am, starting this week.  A fellowship time will take place at 10:00am.  Families can share refreshments and greet each other in fellowship hall.  And, NEW THIS WEEK, our youth in grades 6-12 will have their own fellowship time with Will, our youth director, in the chapel at 10:00am.

For a look at future sermon series, visit our website and click on "Worship" and then "Upcoming Sermon Series" or click here for more...

Guest Youth Choir to Bless us in Worship

CORisThis weekend at both the 9:00am and 10:45am worship services, we'll have some incredible guests!! This is a way I can honor my own heritage as well by inviting my own choir director from my teen years to join us in worship this weekend!

You won't want miss the Inspiration Singers, a 50 member youth choir that will lead us in!  So for this weekend, both services will be the same format.  The only difference will be a children's message at 10:45am.  Be sure to be here to experience God through the voices of the Inspiration Singers.

What happened to prayer requests?

As a church family, it's important we pray for each other.  Our church family is a place where you can share the joys and concerns in your life and know you will receive care.  When it comes to pastoral care, Pastor Rob wants you to know he is here for you, even 24 hours a day if needed.

Green prayer request cards are available in the pews for you to submit your requests for prayer.  We can also receive these requests via email and phone.  When your card comes in, Pastor Rob reviews each one and offers a prayer for those in need.

But, some of you may have noticed we are no longer reading prayer requests in worship and only rarely emailing them out to the congregation.  Here's why...

Confidentiality is one of the most important aspects of pastoral care.  In the last few weeks, we have had a few wonderful, caring, Christian church members share prayer requests for other people.  Unfortunately, the "other" did not want their request shared in church or by email.  So, while our church family members were just trying to help, the result is we have the potential of sharing private information in a public format.  The good news is the church office stopped the publication of this information before it was emailed out.

So, in order to respect the confidentiality of each person, Pastor Rob stopped the process of reading and emailing prayer requests until we could ensure proper confidentiality.   Look for a new prayer card coming soon in the pews.  Also, beginning today, we now have an opportunity to share these prayer requests here in the E-Note (see below)!

Know this congregation will continue to pray for you throughout this transition.  Blessings to you all!!

This Week's Prayer Requests

Nail Cross
Please continue to be in prayer for these prayer requests in the Monticello UMC community:
  • Gaylen Sprecker--cancer, just released from the hospital (family of Stacey Sprecker)
  • Rev. Fred Bruner--cancer (family of Marilyn Howell's)
  • Gary D. Butcher--hospitalized (Gary's and family are members of Monticello)
Prayer Request Policy
It is our policy at Monticello United Methodist Church to include non-emergency prayer requests in the pastor's weekly E-Note.  Emergency prayer requests that come in during the rest of the week (hospitalization, accident, death, etc.) will be sent out individually.

But, To protect the privacy and confidentiality of our parishioners, we will only share prayer requests in email or in worship if we have permission of the person needing prayer or have that permission from a family member.  While we will be unable to publish anonymous requests, requests for non-family members, friends, and neighbors, our pastor and care team will still pray for these requests as they come arise.
