Twitter and Facebook

This week our two skaters reps, Philippe Bergeron and Blake

Sullivan, have taken over our Facebook and Twitter pages!  While OSSA will post the odd notice on these services, most of the facebook posts and tweets going up from now on will be authored by these two gentlemen.

Mandatory Equipment Notice: Neck Guards

A Note from the OSSA Technical Committee: During the Junior Trials meet in Toronto recently, SSC Rule D3-100 was discussed. The senior refs present informed OSSA that bib-style neck guards are required to be worn by ALL skaters unless the skater is wearing a current SSC-issued skinsuit.

This interpretation of the rule will be followed at all OSSA meets. ALL skaters will be required to wear ALL equipment as noted in SSC Rule D3-100 AND a bib-style neckguard. There will be NO exceptions.

Cambridge SSC 40th Anniversary Celebration

40 years ago in Cambridge (Preston), Ontario, the first short track  cssc40th-smallpeed skaters touched the ice at Karl Homuth Arena and Cambridge became a speed skating town. Now, in our 2012/2013 season, we are celebrating 40 years of speed skating successes. Over the years we have seen hundreds of youth participate, both recreationally and competitively, in short track speed skating. Thanks to the many coaches and volunteers who have cheerfully helped and guided our athletes for the sake of the sport and personal growth.

We are calling all CSSC alumni and people with a past or present connection to CSSC to come and join in this celebration of our club, our coaches and volunteers, past and present, and of course, our founding parents. To share your experiences, please send us your pictures, stories and articles of past. We will display them for all in attendance to see!

An Open House will take place on: Saturday, January 26th, 2013 At Hespeler Memorial Arena in the Beehive Room from 2-6pm. Hot/cold appetizers, desserts and drinks will be served. RSVP to 40years@cambridgespeedskating.ca. Send pictures, stories and articles to 40years@cambridgespeedskating.ca.
