PFLAG Maryville...
Celebrates DIVERSITY and
envisions a society that embraces everyone, including those of diverse
sexual orientations and gender identities. Our vision and mission is
accomplished through support, education, and advocacy:- SUPPORT to cope with an adverse society;
- EDUCATION to enlighten an ill-informed public;
- ADVOCACY to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights.

Our November Meeting...
Thursday, November 3rd, 6:30-8:00 p.m. Maryville College, 205 Fayerweather Hall
We will be discussing National Transgender Remembrance Day (Nov. 20), as well as planning how we can help out in Monroe County at Sequoyah High School where students are facing opposition to begin a GSA. Other agenda items...holiday fundraising, upcoming conferences, and youth initiatives. Come hungry! We'll be serving several delicious soups!

FUUF has selected PFLAG Maryville as one of four recipients of their "Split the Plate" program. In the month of November, half of the loose offering will be donated to PFLAG Maryville to support youth travel to upcoming conferences.
Cool Stuff We've Been Up To...
 - Attending and presenting "Supporting Safe Spaces through Bias Exploration" at OUTstanding: A Seminar Exploring L.G.B.T.I.Q. Diversity.
- Hanging out with the Little Monsters at the EastTN GSA/East TN GLSEN 2nd Annual Monster Mash.
- Celebrating National Coming Out Day at Maryville College with the Maryville College GSA. (Picture above is from NCOD 2010)
- Speaking about "Leadership and Activism" to the Maryville College community at the Student Development Leadership Luncheon.
- Hanging out with our UTK friends at the "Everyone is Gay" event.
- Scaring up fun at Fright Fest--a fund raiser for our friends at Knoxville PrideFest and Positively Living.
